Honoring Our Founder: The Legacy of Letha Hickinbotham

At Hickinbotham Real Estate, Inc., we are proud of the history and values that continue to shape our business today. That story begins with our founder, Letha Hickinbotham, whose dedication and leadership left a lasting mark not only on our company, but also on the St. Clair community and beyond.

On January 31, 2005, the Missouri House of Representatives formally recognized Letha as an esteemed resident of St. Clair, Missouri. Just days later, on February 8, 2005, she retired after a remarkable 28-year career in real estate.

A Career of Excellence in Real Estate

Throughout her tenure at Hickinbotham Real Estate, Inc., Letha excelled in many roles — Real Estate Consultant, Residential and Commercial Landlord, and Broker. Her knowledge and professionalism helped countless families and businesses find their place in the community, and her leadership set the standard for how we continue to serve clients today.

Leadership & Recognition

Letha’s influence extended far beyond the office. She was a trailblazer in professional organizations, holding key leadership roles and receiving numerous honors, including:

• President, Women’s Council of Realtors (1980)

• President, Missouri Chapter of Women’s Council of Realtors (1983)

• National Woman of the Year, Women’s Council of Realtors (1983)

• President, Tri-County Business and Professional Women’s Club (1981–82)

• Realtor of the Year, Franklin County Board of Realtors (1983)

• President, Franklin County Board of Realtors (1985)

Her accomplishments also earned her a place in Who’s Who in Leading American Executives.

Entrepreneur & Community Builder

Letha’s entrepreneurial spirit was evident in her ventures beyond real estate. She established the Budget Lodging Motel in 1989 (now known as the Pinemark), which remains a cornerstone of the community. She also developed property that became home to the Subway Restaurant in 1992, helping to grow local business opportunities.

Her dedication to community service was just as strong. She served with organizations including:

• St. Clair Chamber of Commerce

• St. Clair Rotary (President)

• East Central College Foundation (President)

• Sullivan Missouri Baptist Hospital Advisory Board

• Farmers and Merchants Bank Advisory Board
