Weekend Getaways Close to Home

Living in this part of Missouri its always nice and quiet for those who like the peace, but also we are about 45 minutes away from the city of St. Louis. There are plenty of fun family friendly activities in the city but one that gets a lot of attention is the St. Louis City Zoo. The great thing about the zoo is that its no charge, not to mention it's one of the top zoos in the country! What makes it so great you might ask? The St. Louis Zoo takes keeping the animals healthy and happy, when the weather gets too cold they are sure to keep the animals who prefer a warm habitat in the warmth and they do the the same for the animals who prefer the cold when it gets hot. In one year the zoo attracts more than 3,000,000 people. they have such a large variety of animals that are amazing to see and some that you didn't even know existed. The St. Louis zoo is definitely worth the trip especially if you have little one coming along.

St. Clair is a very small town in a great location because there's a little bit of everything around it, from the City of St. Louis to the beautiful rivers and lakes. Buying a house near here would be a decision I know you wouldn't regret.

 

Living in St.Clair, Missouri there are many weekend getaway destinations people don't know about or just simply never go. One of the nearest places that I will always remember is Meramec State Park. When I was a young kid, my grandparents would take me and my two siblings on a weekend camping trip every summer to that park, and we would have an amazing time. We loved going on boat rides, going to Meramec Caverns, getting ice cream, and sitting by the campfire making s’mores.  If you love the outdoors, camping, and boat rides on the river, this is a destination for you.

 

If you like the more of the city lights and sight seeing you can drive about 45 minutes down I-44 to St.Louis with plenty to do and plenty to see. You can take a tour of Ballpark Village and maybe catch a Cards game, or you'll be able to go to the Scottrade Center to watch the blues. There's also the Gateway to the West! You can go to the top of the St. Louis Arch and look over the beautiful city of St. louis. And after your long day, stay at one of the many top hotels in the city.

 

Last but not least one of my favorite places, if your willing to drive about three and a half hours, is Table Rock Lake. This is my personal favorite. I love staying on the lake and fishing and kayaking. There is also the town of Branson that is right up the road which is huge attraction with really cool family friendly shows from comedy to magic and dancing, as well, as singing and also go kart tracks and mini golf. Along with Silver Dollar City amusement park.

HOME SELLERS ARE POCKETING MORE MONEY NATIONALLY

Stack of $100 billsNationally, the average price gain for homeowners who sold in the first quarter was $44,000. This represents an average return of 24 percent on the purchase price -- the highest average price gain for home sellers (in both percentage and dollars) since the third quarter of 2007, according to ATTOM Data Solutions’ First Quarter 2017 U.S. Home Sales Report.

According to Daren Blomquist, senior vice president with ATTOM Data Solutions, “The first quarter of 2017 was the most profitable time to be a home seller in nearly a decade, and yet homeowners are continuing to stay put in their homes longer before selling.” Blomquist noted that “This counterintuitive combination is in part the result of the low inventory of move-up homes available for current homeowners, while also perpetuating the scarcity of starter homes available for first-time home buyers.”

The report showed that homeowners who sold in the first quarter had owned their home for an average of 7.97 years. Between the first quarter of 2000 and third quarter of 2007, prior to the Great Recession, average homeownership tenure was 4.26 years.

Blomquist suggested that the situation may be changing somewhat: “There are some early signs this inventory logjam may be loosening up in some markets, with the average homeownership tenure down from a year ago in nine of the 66 markets we analyzed, including Memphis, Dallas, Boston, Portland [Ore.], and Tampa," adding that "sky-high potential price gains may be finally prompting more homeowners to sell.”
